A LAWYER has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer. 

Police were called to West Green Drive, Crawley, at about 9.35am on Thursday to “concerns for a man in possession of a knife”.

While detaining the man, an officer suffered a “minor laceration” to his hand and was taken to hospital for treatment. 

Jack Chao, 37, a solicitor of West Green Drive, Crawley, was charged with attempted murder yesterday.

He will appear before Brighton Magistrates’ Court today.
