MORE than 700 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed across Sussex.
According to the latest figures from Public Health England, the number of cases in Brighton and Hove rose by 93 in the latest 24 hour period, up from 81 new cases recorded on Wednesday.
It means 4,742 people have now tested positive in the city since the pandemic began.
The highest number of new cases was recorded in East Sussex, where 367 people tested positive, up from 254 yesterday.
It brings the total figure recorded in the county to 8,208.
In West Sussex, 247 new cases were confirmed, up from 201 yesterday.
It means 11,197 people have now tested positive in the area, since Covid-19 hit.
The 707 new cases reported in Sussex - up from 536 yesterday - were among 4,744 new cases recorded across the South East.
Across the UK the number of recorded cases rose by 35,383 over the period, bringing the total figure to 1,948,660.
This included about 11,000 previously unreported cases for Wales as a result of system maintenance in the NHS Wales laboratory information management system.
