A SERIAL shoplifter who repeatedly raided several supermarkets has now been banned from a string of stores.
Daniel Ramsey could face jail time if he is caught crossing the threshold of Aldi, Sainsbury's, B&M, Co-op, One Stop, Iceland, Tesco and Lidl stores in Bexhill.
Inspector Jayantha Mendis-Gunasekera of the Hastings and Rother Neighbourhood Policing Team said the 39-year-old's "prolific offending was having a huge impact on many Bexhill shops".
"We are committed to protecting retailers from shoplifting, which costs businesses millions of pounds each year," she added.
Ramsey, of no fixed address, was issued with a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from the stores at Hastings and Eastbourne Magistrates’ Courts on Wednesday after being convicted of four shoplifting offences.
He is banned from the following Bexhill sites until December 2023:
- Sainsburys, Buckhurst Place
- Co-Op (Western Road and Devonshire Road)
- Tesco Express, Collington Avenue
- B&M, Ravenside Retail Park
- One Stop, Sea Road
- Aldi, London Road
- Iceland, Devonshire Road
- Lidl, Ninfield
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "He could face a prison sentence for failing to comply with the three-year court order, which also stipulates that he must fully engage with drug and alcohol rehabilitation services and attend all rehabilitation appointments."
Ramsey is currently in prison for other offences until June 2021.
