MOTORISTS have appeared in court for a variety of offences committed on our roads.
Here is a selection of some of the drivers who have been named in magistrates’ courts in Sussex in October and November.
ISLA COX
Aged 53, of Hill Brow, Hove, admitted speeding faster than 70mph in a Bentley on the A27 at Southwick on May 29. Fined £750, with a £75 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on her licence.
DARREN FORD
Aged 41, of Roberts Road, Lancing, admitted speeding faster than 60mph in a Vauxhall on the A27 at Aldingbourne on May 25. Fined £368, with a £36 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
ALBERTO LADU
Aged 31, of Springfield Road, Brighton, admitted speeding faster than 70mph in an Alfa Romeo on the M23 on May 24. Fined £225, with a £32 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
MICHAEL POOLEY
Aged 59, of Downview Road, Yapton, admitted speeding faster than 70mph in a Honda on the A27 at Aldingbourne on May 25. Fined £184, with a £32 surcharge and £85 costs. Five points on his licence.
ZIQI LIN
Aged 22, of Brighton Marina, admitted driving a Jaguar faster than 30mph in Lewes Road, Brighton six times, and failing to identify the driver of the car suspected of an offence in Shoreham to the police. Fined £120 per offence, with £85 costs. Banned for one year.
ION FLORIN PATRANA
Aged 32, of Gratwicke Road, Worthing, admitted riding a Yamaha without insurance in St James’s Street, Brighton. Fined £120, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
CARL TOWN
Aged 40, of Station Road, Berwick, admitted driving a Honda in Grange Road, Lewes on May 8 without a valid licence or insurance, failing to stop for police, and failing to report an accident where a crash occurred. Must complete ten rehabilitation sessions, with a £120 fine, £90 surcharge and £110 costs. Six points on his licence.
WILLIAM WEBB
Aged 58, of Cotswold Close, Eastbourne, admitted failing to identify the driver of a Range Rover suspected of a road offence in Shoreham to the police. Fined £276, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
DR KAREN SCOTT
Aged 46, of Lincoln Street, Brighton, admitted speeding faster than 30mph in a Mini in Lewes Road, Brighton on December 3 last year. Fined £172, with a £32 surcharge and £85 costs. No ban for mitigating circumstances - namely the impact on an animal charity and on wife’s employment driven to teach music to the elderly and her mother in rural Scotland.
HAMATO ISTAFANOUS
Aged 61, of Highlands Road, Portslade, admitted driving a Toyota in Carden Avenue, Brighton without a valid licence or insurance. Fined £160, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
SIMON STOTEN
Aged 24, of Forward Close, South Heighton, admitted driving a Renault Clio without valid insurance in Newhaven. Fined £660, with a £66 surcharge and £85 costs. Banned for six months for repeat offending.
DEAN WELLS
Aged 37, of Kingston Road, Hampden Park, admitted driving a Volvo in Hailsham without a valid licence or insurance, and failing to stop for police. Fined £360, with a £36 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
SAMUEL MAYES
Aged 31, of Congreve Road, Broadwater, admitted speeding faster than 30mph in a Volkswagen on the A2032. Fined £120, with a £34 surcharge and £85 costs. Six points on his licence.
