TWO more coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the latest 24-hour reporting period.
One of the deaths was reported by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, where 185 people have now died after testing positive for Covid-19, as of 5pm yesterday.
Another death was reported by East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, bringing the total number of fatalities at hospitals run by the trust to 112.
The victims were among 608 people reported to have died across the UK, according to the latest figures. It brings the national death toll to 55,838.
Cases continued to rise across Sussex, with the greatest increase in West Sussex, where 76 new cases were reported.
As of 9am today, 8,665 people had tested positive in the region since the pandemic began.
In East Sussex 51 new cases were confirmed, bringing the total number of cases recorded there to 4,929.
Cases increased by 15 in Brighton and Hove, and 3,912 people have now tested positive in the city since the pandemic hit.
Nationally there were 11,299 new cases recorded, with 9,854 of those confirmed in England.
It means 1,538,794 people have now tested positive for Covid-19 across the UK, since the pandemic began.
