A TEENAGE mum has appeared at court accused of killing her own baby.

Verphy Kudi, 18, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of her 20-month-old daughter.

It is alleged that she left the baby home alone for six days and the child died from neglect.

Miss Kudi arrived at Lewes Crown Court wearing a blue mask for a hearing into the case.

She is accused of manslaughter between December 4 and 12.

Asiah, aged 20 months, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton on December 11 and was confirmed dead soon after arrival.

Miss Kudi, of no fixed address, was remanded into custody ahead of a further court appearance next month.
