FIRE engines raced to a home last night after flames engulfed a bedroom.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue (ESFR) were called to Abergavenny Road in Lewes at 8.50pm.
The service believes the fire in the residential property started in the first-floor bedroom of the property.

Crews from Barcombe, Roedean and Preston Circus used four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one main jet to extinguish the fire.
The teams battled to keep the flames under control for more than two hours, supported by West Sussex Fire and Rescue.

At 10.57pm, a spokeswoman for ESFR said: "Attendance at the fire has now been scaled down to two pumps.
"The remaining crews are dampening down and cutting away.
"Firefighters are using one hose reel jet to dampen down the scene."
