A DRIVER had a lucky escape after a tree fell on top of a lorry.
The trunk came crashing down just behind the cab of the vehicle in Rock Road, Storrington, at about 4pm yesterday.
Fire crews from Storrington and Partridge Green were called to the scene, as well as the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service Technical Rescue Unit (TRU).
The road was closed as emergency teams dealt with the blockage.
Firefighters used chainsaws to release the vehicle from underneath the tree, making sure the scene was safe before reopening the road.
