MORE than 500 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Sussex over the weekend.
Public Health England figures show the number of recorded coronavirus cases in Brighton and Hove jumped by 127 between 9am on Friday and the same time yesterday.
There have now been 2,578 people who have been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in the city since the start of the pandemic.
A further 131 coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in East Sussex, where the total is now 3,352.
A further 311 coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in West Sussex, where the total is now 5,992.
Between 9am on Sunday and 9am on Monday, 18,950 people tested positive for the virus across the UK.
The numbers of patients in hospital and ventilator beds continues to rise – the totals are 10,918 and 978 respectively.
In the UK, 136 more people died within 28 days of a positive test.
The nationwide death toll now stands at 58,925.
