A TEENAGER has been charged with causing the death of her 20-month-old daughter.
Verphy Kudi, 18, will appear in custody in front of Brighton magistrates today after the death of her child, Asiah, in December last year.
She has been charged with the manslaughter of her daughter.
Verphy and her daughter were living at an address in Islingword Road, Brighton, at the time of Asiah's death.
On December 11, Asiah was taken from this address to the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in an ambulance.
She was confirmed dead soon after arriving at the hospital.
A post-mortem examination and subsequent further forensic tests found that Asiah's death had resulted from neglect.
The prosecution of Verphy Kudi, who is currently of no fixed address, follows an investigation by detectives from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team.
