FIRE crews have hailed a driver’s “lucky escape” after their car careered off the road and ended up in a ditch.
The vehicle came to rest off Harbolets Road in West Chiltington at 8.40pm on Monday.
Images of the aftermath of the crash show the blue car on its roof surrounded by shrubbery and a broken road sign.
A West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service crew from Billingshurst Fire Station were called to the scene and found the car had collided with a low wall, describing the driver as having had a “lucky escape”
A spokesman for the service said: “The driver had self-released from the vehicle and did not require assistance from the fire and rescue service.
“The road was closed while emergency service staff were on scene, with the last crew booking away from the incident at 9.22pm.”
