A POP-UP cycle lane has been launched in Worthing.
The government-funded trial route is one of seven in West Sussex designed to encourage people to travel by bike.
West Sussex County Council said the the northbound and southbound sections of the new route, parallel with Broadwater Green, are not yet finished because long-term parked cars are in the way.
Work on Horsham’s trial cycle route is also set to start this week.
Bike use has skyrocketed amid the coronavirus crisis, with people cycling for lockdown exercise and looking for a new way to travel to help with social distancing.
Capacity on public transport has been reduced to curb the spread of the virus, and people from different households are discouraged from car sharing.
The council said the government had required the seven trial schemes to be planned and installed within three months.
It suggest parents use the lane as part of the school run, adding: “These are trial schemes, so if people want it to stay, please use it.”
