A BURGLAR pretended to be a bobby and had a fake search warrant to enter a man’s home.
The thief tricked the 64-year-old victim at High Rocks, Hastings, at 4.30am on August 26.
He knew the victim’s name and said he was a “CID Sergeant” before talking about “fake money”.
The thief demandd to see cash from a wallet so a serial number could be checked, then stole £165.
He was described as a fat white man in is 40s or 50s, carrying a briefcase.
Detective Constable Andrew Smithson is investigating the case and said: “If you were in the area around the time of the offence or have seen anything suspicious then we would like to hear from you.
“We are also appealing for any further victims of this sort of crime to come forwards.
“Fraudsters who exploit people’s trust in organisations such as the police for their own gains will not be tolerated and we are determined to find the person responsible.”
