A MAN has been charged with robbery and attempted robbery at two city businesses.
Police were called to Costa Coffee in London Road in Brighton on Thursday, and to Burger King on the seafront.
Officers closed both businesses after staff were threatened.
It was reported a suspect had made an acid attack threat in order to steal cash from tills.
A man targeted the coffee chain in the morning, but was stopped by staff and left empty-handed.
The man then raided the Burger King in King’s Road two hours later, stealing cash from a till drawer.
Staff were left shaken by the incidents and officers moved in quickly to secure both scenes and to get CCTV.
Now police say they have charged 31-year-old Rowan Hudson in connection with both offences after he was arrested by officers from the tactical enforcement unit.
Hudson, of The Drive, Hove, appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
He was remanded in custody and will next appear at crown court on September 21.
