A FIRE service has poured cold water on claims it was called to a blaze that affected the cast of Made In Chelsea.

National newspapers reported on Tuesday that stars from the E4 reality show were left “shaken” when a car burst into flames near a West Sussex mansion where they were said to be filming.

They said stars including Olivia Bentley, pictured, and Eliza Batten have been filming at the country house instead of London due to the coronavirus crisis.

The Sun’s story ran under the headline: “Made in Chelsea set rocked by huge blaze after car busts into flames.”

They claimed a neighbour said: “It was really scary. The car was engulfed in flames and firefighters were called to deal with the blaze. The cast were far enough away so they were safe but some were a bit shaken.”

But a fire service spokesman could find no record of it. He said: “West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service weren’t called to attend anything in the area in the time period. I noticed that in a previous story the mansion was said to be Guildford so perhaps it took place there and there has been a mix up.”

Another possibility, he said, was it had been an “insignificant fire” that was put out without having to call the fire service.

Surrey Fire and Rescue has also been contacted for comment.
