ERRANT motorists caught using bus lanes could soon face fines.
Brighton and Hove City Council says new number plate cameras will be brought in to Valley Gardens.
It follows the divisive £18 million scheme to change the road layout along Grand Parade in Brighton and through the city.
Phases one and two Edward Street and near St Peter’s Church are all but completed, while work at the Old Steine is set to begin after a public consultation.
A new bus lane will be in operation once the scheme is completed.
The council said: “ANPR cameras will soon be enforcing bus lane restrictions in the new and improved Valley Gardens to support the free flow of public transport through the area.
“You may receive a Penalty Charge Notice if you ignore the restrictions.”
Fines for using bus lanes were also introduced elsewhere in the city, including at Lewes Road.
