A RENOWNED drag queen joined city DJs on their fledgling podcast.
Bianca Del Rio joined the three DJs from Brighton who have been keeping in touch during the lockdown while nightclubs were closed.
The drag queen has more than two million Instagram followers and won series six of RuPaul’s Drag Race on television. Bianca is described as the “most powerful drag queen in the world”.
She joined Brighton Music College (BIMM) and former Juice radio host and Shakedown Festival founder Steve Jones, DJ Toby Lawrence who works at nightclub Heaven in London, and Alex Ryan who DJs at Codesouth.
The trio started their Stupid Boys Club podcast online and it has gone from strength to strength.
Alex said: “The podcast started as a fun way to socialise in lockdown, mainly covering the mayhem arrival of Jonesy’s new puppy.”
It changed when they invited Drag With No Name on to their show, and stuck with the pets theme to talk about their hamster, and then the trio reached out worldwide.
Alex said: “The first responder was Bianca Del Rio who is listed as ‘The Most Powerful Drag Queen in America’.
“Understandably we were more than a little star struck, guests of this calibre wouldn’t normally see fit to come on a fledgling podcast like ours.“Thankfully, preparation and experience prevailed and the interview went swimmingly, with Bianca commenting that it was possibly the ‘gayest thing she’d ever been a part of’ - quite the accolade, given her trade.”
