POLICE have confirmed a body found by a busy roadside was missing man Adam Beynon.
The 29-year-old was discovered near the Southgate roundabout in Crawley on Tuesday afternoon.
Sussex Police released a missing persons appeal for Adam last month, saying he had not been seen since May 20.
The force said he was last spotted near Crawley railway station where he told a friend he was leaving the area.
Adam had said he planned to travel to Purley in South London, where he intended to beg.
Officers said he may have had a cycle with him and later added that it was also possible he had travelled to Croydon.
On Tuesday police were seen searching bushes next to the A23 carriageway and it was later confirmed a body had been discovered by the roadside.
Forensics were called and the area was sealed off for several hours as an investigation was launched.
Yesterday, Sussex Police formally identified the body.
Next of kin have been informed and the matter has been passed to the Coroner’s Officer.
Police said the death was being treated as “unexplained”.
A spokeswoman added: “Lines of enquiry to establish the full circumstances, including identification, are ongoing.”
