THE number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Sussex has surpassed 1,000.
An update released by Public Health England this morning revealed that five further people had tested positive for the illness in Brighton and Hove.
This takes the city's total to 218 cases since the outbreak of the virus.
The number of confirmed cases in East and West Sussex also increased.
The East Sussex figure rose from 335 to 359, while the West Sussex total climbed from 398 to 459.
As a result, there have now been 1,036 confirmed coronavirus cases in the county.
There have now been a total of 242 deaths in Sussex healthcare trusts.
Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases climbed to 93,873.
In the UK, 12,107 people have died after contracting the virus, as of 5pm on Monday.
