A BRITISH Airways pilot grounded by the coronavirus crisis has been applauded for making a quick career switch.
Peter Login from Horsham has swapped the skies for the streets in his new role as a Tesco delivery driver.
Based in Crawley, the former Thomas Cook pilot is now delivering food to households across Sussex and Surrey, making sure customers do not go hungry as they isolate at home.
He said: “It’s nice to get out to see people. Sometimes you can tell these people might not have seen anyone for the last two weeks and they might not have spoken to anyone.
“That’s where I come in. I’m standing at the door chatting to them, having a bit of a conversation, raising a smile if I can.”
He admitted the current climate was “obviously a hugely challenging time for everyone” but has taken to his new role with gusto.
He did admit, however, that he was “definitely looking forward to getting back in the skies”.
Peter’s actions have drawn widespread praise after he shared his job switch on social media.
One person told British Airways that “this man is the kind of calibre of officer you should always strive for... can do, won’t quit attitude”.
Another said: “What an absolute superstar you are. That dogged spirit and can-do, will-do attitude will get us through this. Yours is such a great example.”
