A THIEF has been jailed after stealing thousands of pounds’ worth of metal.
Dean Jesse Wells was involved in the removal of titanium from Phoenix Scientific Industries at the Apex Business Park in Hailsham.
The 37-year-old either undertook the theft, or assisted in the retention, removal and disposal of stolen goods, a court heard.
It put Wells in breach of a suspended sentence for the theft of a generator, chainsaw and helmet in Uckfield.
At Hastings Magistrates’ Court it was revealed the titanium was valued at between £2,500 and £4,000.
Wells, of Hollamby Park, Hailsham, has “multiple previous convictions” for similar crimes, the court heard.
Magistrates jailed him for 16 weeks and ordered him to pay £500 in compensation.
