A FIRE which erupted at a recycling centre and burned for 37 hours is now out.
An inferno broke out at about 6pm Monday evening at the Viridor Household Waste Recycling Site in Stane Street, Westhampnett, Chichester.
Crews from West Sussex Fire and Rescue (WSFR) were still dealing with the fire yesterday, though it was "much reduced in size".
This morning, a WSFR spokesman confirmed the blaze was now out.
He said: "The fire is now out. Local residents may seem steam rising as the waste material cools down.
"Thank you to residents for their patience as we have dealt with this incident over the last couple of days."
