THE mother of Boris Johnson’s estranged wife Marina Wheeler has passed away.

Dip Singh, who lived in Horsham, died on Sunday, February 23, after an illness. She was 88.

Mr Johnson’s ex-mother-in-law’s home was shut off yesterday, with the curtains drawn and a wooden gate leading to it closed.

Ms Wheeler’s family originate from Sarghoda, in West Punjab.

The area now lies in Pakistan.

The death came six days before Mr Johnson’s current partner Carrie Symonds announced that she was pregnant and the pair were engaged.

The announcement was made 11 days after Mr Johnson’s divorce settlement with Ms Wheeler.

It was not known whether the Prime Minister will be invited to attend the funeral which is to be held on Friday.

A source close to the family told MailOnline that “Dip was not only the head, but also the much respected darling of the family”.

They added: “The Wheelers are being totally dignified and focusing on the funeral and will not talk about Boris in public at all.”

Ms Wheeler is said by friends to be “crushed” by Ms Symonds’ pregnancy announcement, which was posted on Instagram, and their four children are “furious” about his news.

She began divorcing Mr Johnson amid claims he was having an affair with Ms Symonds in 2018.
