HE’S come a long way baby... from DJ to movie star.
Fatboy Slim has turned from the decks to the silver screen for what is his first appearance.
The Hove musician, real name Norman Cook, has a cameo role in Greed alongside his friend and fellow Sussex resident Steve Coogan.
The comedian, who lives in Barcombe, near Lewes, stars as Sir Richard McCreadie in the satire.
Norman told The Argus: “I know Steve and it was he who thought it would be a giggle for me to cameo as the DJ in Greed.
“We filmed it a year and a bit ago in Mykonos.
“Even though my cameo is very brief it took hours of me doing the same thing over and over again – and I actually gave myself tennis elbow by repeatedly waving my arm exactly the same way for hours.
“I also had a very pleasant hour dinner with Stephen Fry and Pixie Lott where we pretended to eat the same meal over and over again whilst Coogan nailed his birthday speech.”
In the film McCreadie plans a lavish Gladiator-themed birthday party for his celebrity chums.
Fatboy and the other big names play themselves at the party.
Alan Partridge star Coogan said: “I was surprised actually.
“Great credit should go to them because they’re slightly prostituting themselves for someone who happens to be incredibly successful.
“Norman Cook otherwise known as Fatboy Slim and Stephen Fry play themselves in the film but the irony is that they play themselves as people who have been paid a fortune just to indulge the vanities of a modern-day emperor.
“In reality they were paid almost nothing to portray themselves in a negative way so they deserve a big round of applause.”
Greed is out on now.
