PARENTS are petitioning the council after it proposed reducing pupil numbers at a primary school.
They are demanding the council reject proposals to reduce pupil numbers at Mile Oak Primary School from 90 in each year group to 60.
A petition calling for the reversal has been signed by more than 500 people.
It reads: “Please support Mile Oak Primary School and and sign this petition to reject the enforced permanent reduction in pupil numbers.
“Our community of Mile Oak and Portslade needs a real choice in schools, large or small, and all local children should have the opportunity to attend our school with its vibrant teaching, brilliant outside spaces and community spirit.”
Mile Oak governors recognise that they may need temporary reduction in numbers.
