A GREEN candidate failed to show to a single hustings during the election campaign.
Alexandra Phillips, who is hoping to be elected to Brighton Kemptown, has not turned up any of the General Election hustings since her selection.
These include a number of debates about Brighton Kemptown, which include ones at Roedean, Brighton College and Moulsecoomb Primary School. Green councillor Hannah Clare has been representing the candidate instead.
A spokeswoman for the candidate said: “Alexandra was very keen to attend as many of the hustings as she could but all the Kemptown hustings have happened during European parliament sitting sessions.
“Alexandra wants to represent her European Parliament constituents in the South East to the best of her ability.
“We did provide her availability to several of the hustings organisers but it was not possible for them to take this into account when scheduling and the dates offered were ones she couldn’t make – including one where they changed the expected date to one she could no longer attend.
"She was looking forward to attending the last few hustings, including The Argus one, but the Eurostar train strike prevented her returning from Brussels in time.”
