A VAN driver tried to smuggle in five migrants as stowaways through a port.
Denis Hotin transported the five people in the back of his vehicle as it passed through Newhaven.
The 19-year-old Romanian driver was stopped by UK Border Force officials who revealed the breach of immigration laws.
At Lewes Crown Court this week he stood trial and was found guilty.
The court was told that Hotin was stopped by the officials in June this year at Newhaven.
Five people in the van were not from the European Union.
Hotin was found unanimously guilty of committing an act to facilitate the breach of UK immigration law.
Hotin was jailed for three years, and now faces deportation once released.
