A MAN who fell overboard from a boat has been taken to hospital.
The incident happened on the River Arun this morning and was reported to Littlehampton RNLI.
A spokesman for the service said: “One of our lifeboats was tasked just before 8am this morning.
“However, a launch was unnecessary because the casualty involved in the incident was already aboard a workboat that was used to transport them to Littlehampton, whilst medically-tended by one of our casualty care-qualified lifeboat crew.
“Further Littlehampton RNLI crew met the vessel at Town Quay to assist, before handing the casualty over to paramedics from the ambulance service when they arrived.
”The paramedics provided further treatment and transferred the casualty to hospital.
“The local Coastguard Rescue Team was also in attendance.”
A spokesman for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the man was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
