A TERRIFIED dog owner clambered down a cliff after his pet fell over the edge.
But he also became stuck and had to be rescued by coastguard.
Teams from Hastings and Bexhill and Rye Bay were “quickly on the scene” at the cliffs in Fairlight, near Hastings.
The crew found the two casualties and lowered their “rope rescue technicians” who rescued the owner and the dog. Both were returned safely to the top of the cliff, uninjured.
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon.
A Hastings Coastguard Rescue Team spokesman said: “Please remember to keep dogs on leads when close to the cliff edge, but also if your dog does go over the cliff please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Don’t try to attempt a rescue as you might very well end up becoming a casualty yourself.”
