POLICE are dealing with an incident in a town centre.

The Argus was contacted by a passersby who said they saw a large police presence near The Beacon in Eastbourne.

One person said: "There is an ambulance car and a lot of police down here.

"People are gathering around to see what has happened.

"I don't know what the police are doing but they are all huddled around a tent."

Sussex Police were contacted for comment and confirmed they were in attendance.

A spokesman for the force said: "We are dealing with an incident in Hyde Gardens in Eastbourne.

"We are currently at the scene."
