ONLINE star Saffron Barker sneaked a hidden symbol into her dance on Strictly Come Dancing this week.

Fans were delighted to see Saffron and professional partner AJ Pritchard use sign language to say “Happy Halloween” to each other in the middle of their spooky routine.

The Rottingdean teenager performed an energetic jive to Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic by The Police dressed as Sabrina The Teenage Witch.

Afterwards she posted on Twitter to see if fans had spotted the pair’s hidden message.

She said: “Who noticed myself and AJ said Happy Halloween in sign language?”

The 19-year-old received an overwhelming response with many people praising her use of British Sign Language.

One fan commented: “Yes, 100 per cent, I thought it was a lovely thing to do.

“I’m deaf in both ears, one with the use of a hearing aid and one without, so it’s great to see sign being used more.”

Another said: “My nephew is deaf and has cochlear implants.

“Doing these little signs here and there is helping to promote it to people.

“Sign language is so, so, so important, so thank you.”

But one viewer spotted a slight error in her technique.

She said: “I thought that was what you were trying to say when I saw it.

“That’s really sweet, I’m deaf myself.

“You actually signed day instead of Halloween.

“But thank you so much for trying to promote it though.”

Last week Saffron and AJ were awarded 38 points out of a possible 40 from the judges for their foxtrot and topped the leaderboard.

Though not quite hitting thoseheights, Saffron still impressed the judges with her latest routine, earning a score of 33 and fourth place on the leaderboard.

Bruno Tonioli said: “You definitely bewitched me and the audience.

“That was so clear, so compact, so tight and the chemistry between you two was sizzling.

“What I love about you is you are a strong performer. You are in charge of the stage and you are selling the character and the dance.”

Fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood, renowned for his cutting remarks, said it was the first dance of the night that he had enjoyed.

Her performance, along with the public vote, saw her secure her place in next week’s show.
