FATBOY Slim helped raise £70,000 for a hospice.

The Hove DJ, aka Norman Cook, played for the crowd at The Grand hotel in Brighton on Saturday night at a bash to support the Martlets.

People were invited to bid for items including a Martlets snail sculpture to raise money at the hospice’s Halloween ball.

Emma Knight, head of partnerships at the Hove-based charity, said: “This our largest annual fundraising event and, with the help of our sponsors and key individuals, this weekend’s was the best yet.

“Saturday night saw 400 people come together for our fifth Halloween ball. They came willing to raise lots for patients and families while having a lot of fun.”

Partygoers also included Carol Harrison, known for her role as Louise Raymond in BBC’s EastEnders

DJ and record producer Steve Mac was also at the party which was hosted by Steve Bustin.

Emma said: “I was absolutely thrilled to announce on the night that the event raised £70,000 this year, smashing previous totals once again.

“We’re so grateful to all of our guests for making this the best ball yet.”

The headline sponsor for the event, for the third year running, was Raz Helalat, boss of The Salt Room and The Coal Shed restaurants, both in Brighton.
