A FLIGHT was delayed as “bulldogs wearing tutus” were removed from the plane.
The emotional support dogs and their owners were offloaded from a Norwegian Air flight destined for America.
A Gatwick spokesman said the dogs had been “fully verified and met all requirements, including passports and paperwork” but a representative for Norwegian Air said the decision to remove them was taken because the dogs were “showing signs of distress in the cabin”.
The BBC reported that the dogs were French Bulldogs wearing tutus and being carried in bags.
A Norwegian Air spokesman said: “The safety and security of our passengers and crew is always our number one priority.
“Flight DI7181 from Gatwick to Austin had not yet departed when the captain took the decision to offload emotional support dogs and their two owners at the gate due to the dogs showing signs of distress in the cabin.”
A Gatwick spokesman said: “Prior to departure from Gatwick this morning, two passengers and their emotional support dogs were taken off a Norwegian aircraft after the dogs showed signs of distress in the cabin.
“The support dogs were fully verified and met all requirements, including passports and paperwork, when passing through airport security and boarding.”
