I HAVE been deeply concerned to learn that both Labour MP Lloyd Russell Moyle and Labour Councillor Jacqui O’Quinn support the retention of the aquarium roundabout, which is scheduled for redesign under plans for Valley Gardens Phase 3.
Just last week the Department of Transport released figures showing that this roundabout ranks among the top 20 most dangerous in the UK.
This news, resulting from the Government’s own studies, is not to be taken lightly.

Plans to replace this accident blackspot with a more pedestrian and cyclist friendly traffic light-controlled junction should be welcomed.
The council has secured the money from local funders for the Valley Gardens project, which has as a principle aim the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
Many residents are expecting the Labour council to demonstrate their commitment to prioritising pedestrian safety and access above vehicle traffic.
The roundabout has been repeatedly confirmed as dangerous - and should be addressed, urgently.
