THE University of Sussex Flat Earth Society is set for its first social event – at The Globe pub.

The group of students, who say they believe the Earth is flat, are meeting for drinks at the pub in Middle Street, Brighton, on May 23.

There are 296 people who have said they are attending the event on Facebook.

A spokesman for the society, which is believed to be a joke, said: “As you perhaps are aware, our first public social at The Globe has proven to be a hit which is fantastic news for our ever growing society.”
