A GROUP of thugs attacked a man leaving him in hospital with serious injuries.

Two men were sat in a parked car at 1.20am this morning when they were approached by the group.

One man stepped out of the car and was set-upon by the group who assaulted him, meaning he had to be taken to hospital.

His condition was described as “serious but stable”.

Chief Inspector Anita Turner said: “The victim has been left, understandably, extremely shaken by what has happened and we are appealing to members of the public to aid our investigation.

“Due to a quick phone call from a member of the public to us, we were able to swiftly deploy officers to the scene.

“An area search was conducted by officers and two people were arrested in connection with the matter.

“But we believe there are suspects still outstanding and we would still like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or noticed a group of men acting suspiciously in this area at this time.”

The attack happened in High Street, Crowborough.

One of the suspects was described as white, of slim build, in his early 20s and with short blond hair.

Another two suspects have short black hair and one has a black eye.

Two 23-year-old men from Crowborough have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

The pair are in custody as the police investigation continues.
