This city is full of health nuts who know exactly what the body needs to thrive. This Sunday is National Health Day and so in honour of Brighton’s healthy eaters Jamie Walker has found TripAdvisor’s top ten “healthy” eating spots in the city

The Social Board

Five stars (93 reviews)

St James’s Street, Brighton

St James’s Street is a hub for cafes in Brighton.

And out of all of them Social Board is considered the best, at least according to the users of ratings site TripAdvisor.

The cafe’s handmade sandwiches and “superfood” salads have proved a hit, earning them the top spot on this list.

Helen H said: “Really creative menu with good choices covering meat, vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.

“Had a quinoa salad that was unusual and delicious.”

Lovefit Cafe

Four and a half stars (164 reviews)

Queens Road, Brighton

Lovefit has been serving up health food to Brightonians since 2008.

Describing themselves as the UK’s “original protein restaurant”, the mantra of the cafe is to “feel good about eating”.

If you are on a health kick this place is worth a visit.

CarolWestSussex said: “There is a good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices.”

The Argus:

Baked

Four and a half stars (226 reviews)

Church Road, Hove

Across both TripAdvisor and their own website Baked advertises itself as a place where locally sourced produce and fresh ingredients are at the heart of all they produce.

Just looking at their breakfast options will have your mouth watering.

Jonceee3 said: “Excellent quality, using local produce where possible, catering for those with different requirements.”

Moksha Caffe

Four and a half stars (183 reviews)

York Place, Brighton

Much like many of the other cafes on this list, if you’re after a fresh and tasty breakfast of lunch then Moksha is a good place to check out.

They get a lot of praise for their pancakes too and even though pancake day has been and gone it’s never a bad time for a tasty, pan-made, treat.

Radders987 said: “Staff were really friendly, nice atmosphere, and all the food I saw looked delicious too.”

The Argus:

Al Duomo

Four stars (969 reviews)

Pavilion Buildings, Brighton

This Italian hotspot in the centre of Brighton has been dishing out classic Neapolitan style pizza for more than two decades and is still going strong.

If you like classic Italian food which won’t break your belt then this is a good spot to try.

HolidaymakerfromHove said: “The staff were great and the food was piping hot and tasty.”

Lost in the Lanes

Four and a half stars (84 reviews)

Nile Street, Brighton

Whether it’s a full breakfast, light bite or hearty lunch, the Mediterranean inspired food served up at Lost in the Lanes is tasty and has a whole lot of flair.

It is a relaxing escape in the packed Lanes.

The Argus:

The Almond Tree

Four and a half stars (66 reviews)

Dyke Road, Brighton

A great British cafe that, like many of the places on this list, is a brilliant place to spot whether you’re a carnivore, vegetarian or vegan.

Plenty of choice and always busy proves how good this cafe is.

Sarah T said: “Definitely a place to visit if you’re looking for nourishing organic food.”

Talk of Tea

Four and a half stars (135 reviews)

Spring Street, Brighton

Tea is a classic British staple and so is a tearoom.

This cafe brings that style of cafe back in a unique and quirky way.

Definitely check it out when you can because it’s a lovely little spot.

The Argus:

Oseta Cafe

Five stars (30 reviews)

Another great independent coffee shop in the heart of the city.

Amacturner12 said: “Elina and her team also offer delicious, and often unusual snacks and meals when your appetite is slightly larger.”

West Pier Pizzeria

Four and a half stars (30 reviews)

Kings Road, Brighton

Another healthy pizza joint but West Pier Pizzeria prides itself on producing authentic Romana pizza.

Seeing some of the pictures it’s undeniable that the food looks pretty great.

If you like pizza, and like comparing different pizza styles, then this is a good call.

Ersah K K said: “This is the biggest pizza I have ever had in an Italian restaurant.”
