On Tuesday it was my birthday and I had a whole raft of activities planned, including kayaking and an alfresco lunch.

The weather was so miserable I decided to cancel everything and give the day up as a washout.

The rain finally eased off at about 6pm so I decided to take the dog out for a walk.

Suddenly the sun came out and the blue skies started to roll in bathing the seafront in a golden glow.

At that moment I turned around and spotted a double rainbow which appeared to land perfectly on the end of the Palace Pier.

I took this snap with my camera phone which I think, even as an artist, is of amazing quality.

I hope Argus readers enjoy the photograph. I looked on it as a birthday gift from the heavens.
