BUSINESSES have been shown around the new Hanningtons Lane development in Brighton.
As the Lane takes shape and ahead of its opening next month, Redevco and architect Morgan Carn Partnership invited Lanes businesses and representatives from Brighton Business Improvement District for a preview.
Gavin Stewart, Chief Executive of Brighton BID, said: “We are thrilled that the new Hanningtons Lane is almost near completion.
“The development really adds a whole new dimension to the city centre retail scape, giving locals and visitors alike a brand new area to explore and enjoy.”
Andrew Foulds, portfoliod irector at Redevco, thanked everyone for their support during construction.
He said many of the design and construction team had never worked on such a complicated build but they were absolutely delighted with the results.
The group walked down the new Lane into some shops and peeped into the offices above.
They saw Gingerman Restaurant Group’s latest venture The Flint House being fitted out and learnt about the restoration of Puget’s Cottage, a new Green Wall, and two art projects.
Denise Taylor is secretary of the Brighton Lanes Traders Group and Chairman of Brighton and Hove City in Bloom.
She said: “Businesses in The Lanes have engaged with the architect since early proposals and the developers thereafter.
“The majority of the Brighton Lanes Traders Group has supported this project to ensure the regeneration and survival of the Old Town.
“The huge investment in the development of the area and the opening up of a new lane to link with the original mid-eighteenth century layout is vital for the sustainability of The Lanes and surrounding areas.
“With so much economic uncertainty at this time, it is anticipated that this development will prove popular with visitors and tourists alike and will entice new businesses into the Lanes.”
