IS THIS the droid you’re looking for?
Growing up, many of us will have dreamed of flying to a galaxy far, far away and joining the lives of those who made up the characters in Star Wars.
The adventures of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa and Han Solo drew millions of fans.
Alongside the three main characters were their droid companions C-3PO and R2-D2.
The tall, golden protocol droid and the small, whistling astromech droid became fan favourites and shared a great rapport with both each other and the audience.
And now it seems that one of them has come to Brighton – or is it just a lookalike?
On Monday, photos began circulating online of a droid that had been dumped in Gloucester Street, Brighton.
They were posted on Reddit – a popular internet forum – and quickly attracted attention.
Reddit user Aypah, who took the photo, said: “I just found it outside my job lined up with the bins.
“I thought it was the barbers across the road as they have lots of Star Wars stuff in the window.
“I had to do a double take when walking past it.”
It was later revealed the droid had been thrown out by trance music and cyber clothing store Cyberdog, which had a store in Sydney Street until it closed recently.
Within an hour of the post appearing on Reddit, the character had gone.
Aypah said he was tempted to take it himself but hopes it has found a good home.
He said: “I wanted to to put in my mate’s flat but thought it would find somewhere better.
“After about an hour or so someone seemed to have taken it.
“Whether it got ‘saved’, who knows.”
Clearly Aypah wasn’t the only one left disappointed by not claiming the droid.
Reddit user tisgumori commented paraphrasing the now infamous Star Wars quote: “These are the droids I’m looking for.”
