TRAVELLERS can now pay for tickets on Brighton and Hove Buses and Metrobus using contactless bank cards and phones.
To pay for journeys, bus passengers can now tap their phones or cards on the ticket machine when they get on the bus.
Brighton and Hove Buses’ managing director Martin Harris said: “We want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for people to catch our buses, so this is a breakthrough.
“No need to plan your journey or worry about having the right change. Just get on the bus and go.”
The new payment system, which was introduced yesterday is available on all Brighton and Hove and Metrobus routes.
You can pay by Visa, Mastercard or with your phone using Apple or Android Pay.
American Express is not accepted.
Mr Harris said: “Contactless also helps speed up boarding and make bus journeys quicker.
“That’s absolutely key in a busy city like Brighton & Hove and another step towards fighting congestion and keeping buses running on time.”
