REMEMBER, remember the fifth of November, but these are the fireworks events happening on other dates.
Bonfire festivities abound across Sussex, with the tradition dating back to before Guy Fawkes’ time, when farm workers would dress up and blacken their faces to go begging.
Here are seven alternatives to Lewes Bonfire.
Firle Bonfire - Saturday, October 27
Under-13s go free, with adult entry costing £5.
A procession starts at 7pm from The Ram Inn and fireworks begin at 9.30pm. Parking is free.
Family Funfair and Fireworks, Preston Park - Friday, November 2
Combine the fun of the fair with a free firework display from 8.15pm. Rides are priced independently.
The Nevill Fireworks, Nevill Playing Fields, Hove - Saturday, November 3
Gates open at 5pm and the fireworks, choreographed to music by award-winning company Brightfire Pyrotechnics, starts at 7pm.
Advance tickets cost £8 for adults, £4.50 for three to 15-year-olds. On the night they cost £10 and £5.
Sussex County Cricket Ground, Hove - Saturday, November 3
Enjoy live music from Adam Davis and The Marching Skaletons at this display, in aid of the Sussex Cricket Foundation and the Martlets.
Gates open at 6pm and fireworks begin at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for under-16s and £20 for families.
Brighton Lions Firework Display, Brighton Racecourse - Sunday, November 4
Fireworks will start at 7.30pm, and there will be fairground rides. Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for under-16s and £25 for families.
Balfour Primary School, Brighton - Saturday, November 10
Doors open at 5pm and the display starts at 6.45pm. Tickets cost £5.50 for adults, £4.50 for children, and £16 for families.
Chailey Bonfire - Saturday, November 10
One of Sussex’s oldest bonfire societies starts its procession at 5pm at Chailey Comprehensive School. Fireworks start at 8pm.
