A UNIVERSITY student was found dead at Brighton Marina on Sunday.
The body of a man in his twenties was recovered from the water by security staff after a woman called 999 at 2.20pm.
The Sussex University student has not been formally identified.
Police, lifeboat volunteers and Coastguards were called and paths along the wall were all cordoned off.
A coroner’s officer attended and a private ambulance was also called.
Sussex Police said: “At 2.20pm on Sunday the body of a man was found in water at Brighton Marina.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and the coroners officer is continuing enquiries.”
A University of Sussex spokeswoman said: “We are deeply saddened by this news and are in close contact with his family and friends at this difficult time.
“We are encouraging our students to seek support from our on campus services if they need to talk.”
One boat owner at the marina said: “I saw the RNLI lifeboat team going quickly along and was not sure what was happening.
“They usually bring back casualties at that jetty in the marina.”
