POLICE Tasered a man in the centre of Brighton in the early hours of this morning.
It happened after a man armed with a "long, thin metal rod" was seen threatening people in Black Lion Street at 12.20am.
As police approached the suspect at the junction with Kings Road, he ignored their command to stop and tried to run off.
He was then Tasered in order to ensure his safe arrest and to protect the nearby public.
A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and common assault.
He was given medical attention and is in custody for interview and further enquiries.
Police seized the metal rod.
