TWO night services are being brought back in Brighton and Hove Buses’ summer schedule.
The Argus reported back in December that a number of routes were being cut and campaigners argued the late night service was vital.
Now the bus company has released its summer plans which come into effect on June 17.
The timetable change includes two extra night-time journeys on the N5 six nights a week at 1.05am and 2.05am from Churchill Square to Patcham and Hollingbury.
This follows a customer survey in which about half of respondents requested the route be supplemented.
A journey to Swanborough Drive in Whitehawk has also been added six nights a week at 3am. on an N7 service from the Clock Tower.
Managing director Martin Harris said: “We’ve reviewed our night network as we promised following a customer survey after some people were unhappy with the few bus services we removed in the New Year because of very minimal take up.
“The survey responses backed our own evidence that these routes were used by only a handful of people but we’re offering these additional night journeys to honour our word.
“And we remain committed to extending the night service in the long term.”
The timetable will see an increase in the number of buses running along the Coaster route.
In addition to the service 12s, the 13X Brighton to Eastbourne via Beachy Head will once again run every day, plus increase in frequency on Sundays to run every half-hour all the way to the end of August - including the August bank holiday.
City Sightseeing buses, operating hourly throughout the summer, will this year invite tourists to take three specific tours.
The red city tour takes visitors around attractions in the city centre and out to the Marina; the blue coastal tour takes passengers out along the coast to Rottingdean and Saltdean; and the green country tour transports passengers into the countryside up to Devil’s Dyke.
And this year, the popular open-top tour buses to Devil’s Dyke are back.
The popular 77 to Devil’s Dyke will also return to operate every day at a frequency of every 45 minutes with extra evening journeys every day too.
Mr Harris said: “We’re pleased to be able to offer extra services along the popular Coaster route and to return the much-loved open-top tour buses to Devil’s Dyke, and with the new destination sightseeing tours, there’s something for the city’s visitors too. “
