A COASTAL home redeveloped in the style of mansions owned by stars including Taylor Swift is on the market for £2.4 million.
Russet House, which is on the Kingston Gorse private estate in East Preston, was a 1930s cottage that has now been renovated into a luxurious beach house.
The holiday homes of celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Steven Spielberg in the US provided the inspiration.
Sophie Masson, who designed the house, said: “It was a 1930s property to start with but I ended up knocking almost all of it down to make it bigger.
“Only a couple of the original walls remain.
“‘I wanted a beach house with simple, clean lines.
“The Hamptons or New England look is idyllic.
“The location certainly helps – I don’t think this look works as well in the countryside.”
The property is on the market for £2.375 million.
It is 120 yards away from the beach, with the South Downs just a short journey away.
The house, which is being sold through Pegasus Properties, now has five bedrooms after being redeveloped, with four main reception-rooms and an annex with one bedroom inside.
The gated property, which is monitored by CCTV, has a number of mod cons, including a fully integrated smart home system with controlled lighting, heating, audio and TV systems which are operated by smartphone.
There is also planning permission included in the purchase for an outdoor swimming pool and for the conversion of the attic room into two en-suite bedrooms.
Taylor Swift’s beach house in Rhode Island, New England, has become renowned for hosting extravagant parties over the past few years.
It is in Watch Hill, an affluent village on the coast.
The pop star’s mansion was originally listed for around $24 million, before she bought it for more than $17 million five years ago.
