A man who was involved in an accident on the A23 has sadly died.
The incident happened yesterday, Sunday, March 25, at around 4.50pm n the A23 northbound carriageway near Hickstead, Haywards Heath.
A dark coloured Skoda, which was driven by the 59-year-old from Horsham, left the carriageway and hit a lamppost.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance and the fire service, were called to the scene of the crash and a team worked to clear debris off the road.
The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel and despite the best efforts of the paramedics, sadly died at the scene.
A passenger, a 59-year-old woman from Horsham, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
The road remained closed until 9.10pm.
