I FULLY support the tough-love approach to minimise public smoking by banning it in enclosed public spaces and work places.

I am also keen to promote further restrictions to protect children from breathing second-hand smoke when sitting in smokers' cars.

It drives me to madness to see young children subjected to inconsiderate parents smoking in their cars en route to school first thing in the morning.

Children are still developing physically and have higher breathing rates than adults, yet these young children are receiving high doses of second-hand smoke from adults and running the risk of long-term damaging health effects.

As these children have little control over their environments, it surely must be the parents who should be steered accordingly.
