Police have offered a £1,000 reward for sick footage of a homeless man being badly beaten with a metal bar.

Paul Vickers, 40, was viciously assaulted as he lay in a bus shelter at Fishbourne, near Chichester, in the early hours of last Tuesday.

Detectives believe the attack, which has left Mr Vickers fighting for his life, was filmed on a mobile phone and is being circulated - possibly to people who have no idea how seriously he was injured.

Officers have asked anyone who receives the images to contact police and arrange to send it to the investigating team. The reward will be paid to the first person who hands it over.

Detective Inspector Nigel Brown, who is leading the investigation, said: "I am appealing for any person who has seen, received or possesses these images to contact detectives immediately on 0845 6070999 quoting Operation Emu. They can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."

Mr Vickers was found lying in a pool of blood after being repeatedly hit over the head. Police were told he had been approached by the men shortly after 6am on Tuesday.

Tonight he was still being treated in a specialist brain unit in Southampton.

Two males aged 17 and 18 have been charged with attempted murder and will appear before Lewes Crown Court on August 9.

Two other males aged 17 and 18 have been released on police bail.
