HUNDREDS of portions of pumpkin soup were served up to hungry people to raise awareness of food waste.
The Pumpkin Rescue Souper Party held on Saturday night at The Open Market in Brighton was a great success.
Volunteers handed out soup to guests while DJs played music and community project stalls provided information on food waste. Other food-themed activities for all ages were on offer.
Caroline Sutton, of Brighton and Hove Food Partnership, the event’s organisers, said: “It was a great success with lots of people enjoying the tasty soup.
“Our volunteers did a great job. The whole thing was about changing people’s perception of food waste.
“Sharing a meal is good for people’s health and wellbeing.
“We are very pleased.”
